The Hammermill Shredder drive mainly consists of the following elements:
- Metallic frame
- Motor (diesel or electric): 180 HP - 1100 HP (*)
- Reducer (gearbox)
- Hydraulic clutch
- Driveshaft (cardan shaft)
This kind of modern layout drive has three main advantages compared to a drive without open hydraulic clutch:
- Protects the motor and the reducer from overload
- Achieves softer motor start
- Reduces the over costs due to consumption peaks
